removing transfer case HELP!
so i have decided to rip out my tanny and get it rebuilt. today a friend and i were working on it and when we got to the step of taking the transfer case off we spent 5 hours on it and couldnt get it off. i think we tried everything possible. i will run through what we all did. we removed all 6 bolts, removed splinned shafts from transfer case and tanny, pryed with crow bars, pinch bars, screw drivers, pounded with a chisel and hammer trying to split it and we got it to move a total of a couple mm's. i have heard it has to be slid off perfect in order to get it off and we tried and just couldn't do it. also we heard that our TOB is probly shot and the pressure plate it holding it tight, so we took all bolts around the pressure plate off by taking off the boot of the fork and we still had no luck. we also took off the rear driveshaft to see if that would help any but nope. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!
First you need to retype what you wrote.
It sounds like you still have a bolt left in it, it should slid off and there should be no need for a hammer and chisel. The PP and Tob have nothing to do w/ the t/c staying on the trans.
