Default 03 Galant Heater is blowing cold air

Hi,

I have a 03 Galant ES with 107000 miles on it. My car is running fine. Yesterday my heater was working fine, but due to warm weather i change it to AC for few minutes. Today Morning when i start my car and turn the heater on, it's blowing cold air only. I check my coolant level and it's below the low mark on it.

Any help/suggestion on this. What could be the problem? I am planning to add some coolant in it. What kind of coolant it takes for 2.4 L engine.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated,

Kalpesh

You can use any coolant that is 50/50 mix all ready in the bottle.I have a 2006 galant and i use prestone 50/50 mix. It is about $8.00 gal. @ wal-mart. As for no heat. check the coolant level in the radiator when the car is cold.If it is low that mean you have a leak.Low coolant = no heat or low heat.Hope this helps.

If your coolant level is ok, check the blend door control motor.

I'm still having the same problem. the coolant level is ok, the cable that control the blend door is ok. The only thing that I noticed was that both heater hoses that came from the engine into the firewall are not warm talkless of being hot. Though, I check the thermostat, it seems to be working. who can give me an hint of what is going on. Thanks

It could be the heater matrix itself that is £uckd

if your coolant level is good.. I would check the heater shut motor or also called the air amplifier. It is located under the center of the dash behind air ducts on the heater core pipe right before it goes into the heater core. Switch the temp switch back and forth and see if the white arm is moving. If not you can only get the item from the dealer and it is around $150. This is a common problem on galants.
