I have a problem with 2001 Galant ES. Recently I am noticing that the temperature dial goes up all the way to the red marker when I drive in the city with stop and go. I have topped the coolant in the radiator when I got the oil change done yesterday. The fans are working properly as I noticed both the fans are running. When I drive on the highway the temperature stays right in the middle where it is supposed to be.

Any clue as why this happens.

 

sounds like a plugged radiator you nee to get it rodded out
