My 2002 galant GTZ with a V6 has been overheating and I checked all the forums. I changed the thermostat and made sure the fans were coming on when they should, which they are. I also checked the oil and it looks good.

I did notice a coolant leak back in the engine, under the thermostat housing. It does not seem to be the thermostat housing. What gasket might be leaking? Could it be the head gasket but it is leaking out instead of going into the oil?

How much of the engine do I have to take apart to change that.

 

drill a hole in it, screw a slide hammer in, pull it out, push the new one in and smack it with a ball peon......
so remove enough that you can manage all that.
