I've just purchased a 2008 Galant and am noticing that when accelerating- the car jerks when switching gears. Anyone know what causes this? it's the worse when the car has first been started but is not as bad once it has been running a while... please help

 

Seems like possibly your spark plugs. ? I would bring it in to get checked on since it's under warranty.

 

how many miles?? trans fluid contamination can cause an issue like that. commonly called torque converter shudder. if it has 30k or more miles and the trans fluid looks dirty i would recommend a trans fluid flush. with mitsubishi SPIII fluid ONLY. aftermarket fluids can cause same issue, and damage the trans. is the SES light on??

 

Def sounds like the auto transmission needs a service.

Do it soon else it will cost a lot more later....

 

It has about 70,000 miles on it... no lights are on or anything.. I took it to the dealer and they said that nothing was wrong with it. They acted as if it didn't do anything wrong for them at all.. They kept it overnight to see if it would do anything the next morning and they said it didn't. Once the car gets warmed up, these issues don't happen.. it just concerns me because I have never had a car do these before when transitioning.
