Hey guys, I'm new hear. I found this place when researching my problem, and I'm hoping maybe somebody here would be be able to solve it

Anyways I bought my Galant used a little over a year ago and it didn't come with the keyless remote. I called the local dealership asking for a price on remote and programming and let's just say it was rediculous. So I bought a remote on ebay compatible with galants from 94-97. It came with instructions telling me to find the data link connector and ground pin 1 by putting a wire or paper clip between pin 1 and 4 because pin 4 is a ground. I did that with a paper clip. Then it tells me to turn my car to ACC then back to OFF, and my powerlocks should go on and off. Problem is they don't, nothing happens. Anybody know why?
