Question Galant 2001 ES 4 cyl, AC fan motor change

Hi guys,

Recently discovered that my AC motor gets hot after some time of working and then goes very slow. I'v been told that its gona cost 310$ to change it together with labor/parts.

I found some motors online, which cost 43$, im wondering how much time it would take to do it? Is there any online manual on how to change motor in this car?

And if im correct, its a motor which is responsible for both heater and AC right?

Is it supposed to look like this ?

Thanks guys!

alot of people have lost interest in this forum, hopefully it will turn around. Definitely always cheaper to do the work yourself... Its amazing how much people charge for the easiest repairs, might as well purchase a new vehicle if you have a major problem.

We should get some threads going that show how to swap parts like this because the haynes manuals are useless for this kind of thing. I'm going to have a go at changing the pollen filter in my 2001 V6 this weekend so I'll take pictures of that and post since I can't find a guide anywhere and its NOT easy to get to, theres some metal strut that supports the dash right in front of it so it can't be removed without first removing the strut. The haynes manual doesn't even mention the strut!

Anyway BlackOps, if you can remember what you did and how long it took etc please write it here so if someone else has the same issue at least they will know roughly what to do. Also which year galant is it?

Cheers.

year as stated in topic 2001, ES 2.4. galant.

The AC blower motor is located under the storage area in front of the front passenger seat. Once you receive part and know how it looks like, you can easily recognize it standing without any cover. Just disconnect cable plug (which can go only one way in), open 3 screws, and change the motor. One of the screws will be difficult to open because it is located far away, so i just used long, strong twizzer to do that, it took a little more time to open, but i did it without taking apart anything else.

thanks
