Galant 2.0 Sports 2002.
I've got a problem on the balance shaft on which sits the oil pump. Originally there was a slooshing noise from the timing belt area, then mechanical clattering/whirring .....
The balance shaft bearing has broke off and dropped into the sump, so needs replacing. As it is hydraulically pressed into a casting, it may not be possible to replace as the casting could well be damaged, so things don't look too good.

• Anyway, can anyone advise ?
• Has anyone encountered this problem ?
• If so, was the cause established ?
• How were you able to fix it ?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
