Hi guys....i actually registered to this site to ask about questions on behalf of my poor friends vehicle....i'm mechanically inclined but know nothing about these cars.....she owns a 1997 Galant and she's experiencing a lot of shaking when she gives the car gas....but at a red light it idles fine....once she gives it gas it shakes and skips and the check engine light comes on.....any idea?

 

My first thought was a problem with balance shafts inside the engine. Good luck!

 

WELL I HAVE A 99 GALANT AND AM DEALING WITH IT NOW..FIRST START OFF WITH A TUNE UP PLUGS WIRES. AND FIND OUT WHAT CYLNDER IS MISS FIRING. I REPLACED THE WIRES AND COIL PACK AND STILL HAD PROBLEMS. SO I REPLACED MY FUEL INJECTOR AND NOW ITS FINE .SO REPLACE INJECTOR FIRST. YOU CAN ONLY BUY A INJECTOR FROM MITSUBISHI AND IT GOES FOR $114 A PEICE THE COIL PACK WAS ABOUT THE SAME GOOD LUCK.
DO IT YOUR SELF ONLY TAKES 15 MIN FOR A BASIC TUNE UP

 

i have a 96 galant and i had the same problem. Try replacing the spark plugs "NGK plugs are perfect", wires, cap , rotor.

 

i think u just have to change the spark plugs and tune up the car. flush all the car fluids.
