Default In the market for a used Galant, please help me think :)

OK guys, I spot plenty of 2002-2003 Galants (V6 engine) at 4,000-6,000 Euro. That's pretty expensive compared to
the american market. Just to give you a scale, for that money, I can get a similarly aged and equipped Audi A3.

Yet, for that money, I get:
- Huge car
- Fuel economic
- Design I like (it's no BMW M5 but it looks cool)
- Pretty fast

I can probably strech it and get a VRM or VR4 (I am very new to Mitsubishis, I'd appreciate any info thrown at me).

So it seems like I am going for it. The availability makes me think that if I look hard enough, I'd find one in good condition.

My questions are:
1. What's the catch? Are these cars fragile or not durable? Costly to maintain?
2. Should I go for a VRM/VR4? I am a good driver and I like a bit of vroom-vroom here and there.
3. What to look for in particular in a 2000-2003 Galant? (where are the weak spots?)

Thanks!

Here's one catch... I can't find a VR4/VRM with the steering wheel placed in the right spot. They are all Jap-only, are they?

Thanks for the wish to help but I do not require any offers. Mainly because I am not in the USA.
Maybe my scattered post is a little misleading. IfI could rephrase it, it would look like that:
1. What's the catch? Are these cars fragile or not durable? Costly to maintain?
2. What to look for in particular in a 2000-2003 Galant? (where are the weak spots?)
3. Do they have any known factory defects?
