I have a black 03 Galant ES. It came with the standard 3 yr/36k warranty, but with less than 50k on it right now (and considering that it was garaged for the first two years or more) I am faced with an unusual problem. The paint is 'fading'!! I have like white spots on some areas of the vehicle, looks like 'fading' or erosion of the coating. I am quite puzzled by this since I have never seen a vehicle's paint job start to fade this early in ownership. I have seen two Black Mitsu's on the road with similar white spots, so I can only assume that this is a Mitsu-wide issue, may be just with the black coating.

I am wondering if the paint is warrantied by the manufacturers separately, my brother told me that many manufacturers warranty the paint job for upwards of 10 years. Is there any truth to this? Also, does anyone have a similar problem? I consider my car to have been very well taken care of, yet this is a problem I am facing now.

 

It should be covered under the corrosion warranty that is like 10 years or 100k miles, i'm not 100% on that??? I would contact the dealer and see what they can do for you.

 

my 01 is black and I had the same problem. I have seen tons of galants with the newer body style with the same fading in the same spots. I bought mine at 62k and it already had all the peeling and fading. I ended up getting a maaco paint job done for around $800 and so far 3 years down the road it is looking very good. I have also seen a lot of this same thing with eclipses I see driving around.

 

try NU Finish first before repainting it. it will save hundreds of dollars. a bottle of NUFinish is only $10.00 or less there is another brand but I forgot the name the bottle of NUFINISH is orange with white waxthe other one is clear plastic with light blue wax

I tried that with my 1993 Honda Civic it was white all over the car paint but When I used NUFINISH it was gone and also recommend waxing your car every month or every two weeks

The white blemish on the paint it can be remove with a simple NUFINISH WAX after that used Nano Wax used both wax please.

Its Kalapana black. Type that in on a google search. ALL Kalapana black Mitsus are prone to it. Mitsu wont doing anything.
