Default warm air conditioning 1999 galant

Hey guys, i recently bought a 1999 galant from a car dealship. dumb me, i forgot to check to air conditioning when i bought it. i am 18 years old and really have no clue about most things car related. anyways, my car's air conditioning blows warm air. the heat works fine, and there is a difference between the air that comes out when i have the heat or the a/c on, but still the a/c is warm. i live in nc and already in may the heat is unbearable. taking my car in to any kind of shop to have them look at/fix is not an option for me, i have about 20 bucks to my name at all times haha. i bought one of those fix it yourself a/c things at walmart with the gauge, and the reading from my low pressure port was in the red, so i released alllll of it until it was at 0 psi then filled it to the correct point with the new coolant/ refrigerant whatever it's called, and still it's blowing hot air. any suggestions? thanks a lot for the help!

If you are already good with the gas you might have a compressor issue.... is it making any noise? you should be able to see the belt that goes to it, make sure it spins it.

I want to replace the expansion valve in my 99 Galant, I have paper & on-line manuals (half of the component descriptions are gobbledegook) Anyway, t am confused if I have to dismantle half the interior/dash OR can go through the glove box/blower motor area OR the firewall side as was mentioned in a Q about another Mits model. Too poor to take it to a mechanic. Thanks

Default Exp Valve

I just dropped off the car to a primo mechanic (he has a room filled with racing trophies) I've used them before but thought they' be high because of they're racing specialists - they estimated 1.5 hours to replace valve & flush evap core, the dollar amount will be less than my regular mechanic would charge to replace the valve only. As always I'm waiting for the phone to ring about "complications". I'll finish replacing the rest of the a/c parts this weekend and have a pro do the vacuum/charge. Hopefully I can pass on info to anyone in the forum who's going through the same procedure
Thanks to all for the info
