Default 2002 Lancer Using Oil

Hi,

I have a 2002 lancer (automatic) 88 600 miles and since 2 oil changes I noticed that I'm going through more than a quart of oil in 2000 miles. When it happend the first time, I ask the shop to check for leaks when then change the oil. They didn't find anything and told me to monitor it until the next change. Today (after around 2000 miles) I add again a quart. Also I noticed that the oil was quite dark. I change my oil every 3000 miles and I drive almost only on freeways. Would you have any Idea of what I should do/check.

Thanks

JP

Valve stem seals. Do you notice any smoking at start up or under heavy acceleration? If you do then the valve stem seals are leaking oil in tothe compustion chamber.

To check for an external leak then park on a cleanpeice of concreat then check for oil stains on the concreat.

I will double check but I didn't notice any smoking.
