My 2008 Lancer VR remote key battery was dead for sometime and I recently had the battery replaced, Ever since then, every time I press the LOCK or the UNLOCK button the red light on the remote keeps blinking continuously but doesn't actually lock or unlock the car. If I leave the key alone for few hours and try to unlock the car, It does unlock and lock but after few attempts it starts doing the blinking again. Any Idea what this problem is? I have replaced the battery with the correct number.

 

Maybe it needs to be reprogrammed since you let them actually die?

When I got my '13 one of them was a little "slow" so I replaced both batteries to be on the safe side - no issues. ($3 batteries at Radio Shack.)
