Default Lancer Air control **** problem

Hi there!

I just bought a Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2004. It is in great condition and it seems to be a very reliable car. We call it "Strawberry"

The only issue it has right now is something quite common among these models, which is a hard to turn air control ****. Actually mine had this problem but got stuck, so the seller (a friend) said that it has to be changed according to the season by a mechanic. In other words, if you want cool air you leave it on a position and if you want it warm you need to change that previous position. (something not to convenient) Does any of you have the same issue, could you solve it yourself or you got it done for you? Last question, How much it cost you?

I read that it has to be with a piece that breaks and gets the ventilation door stuck. The thing is that is very cold right now and the car does not blow warm enough air.

I hope you have the answer...ahhh do you have a repair manual.. I could try to look for the broken part and buy it online cheaper...

Thank you all for your help and stay warm!!

Hope it's ok to post these links, it's for 2002 and 2003, but if the parts are the same it might help you out. I bought the repair kit at the dealer for $20, haven't had time to put it in yet.

After a long time looking for the replacement parts and deciding to go for it ( I did not do it before because I got used to move the link with my foot) I finally bought it from mitsubishiparts.com

The numbers for these pieces are:

7801A110 LINKHEATER AIR CONTROL
MR979515 WIREHEATER CONTROL EQU

I paid $33 and i can say they fit perfectly on 2002, 2003 and my 2004.
It took me 1 hour more or less with two screwdrivers and nothing else.

Just follow this video and you will be able to fix it!!
