cold air intake....short ram is ok and cheaper, but if u get the real cold air, u can take out the driver side plastic grille cover and have a ram-air setup, good for wintertime. 2nd, go to midas or meineke and get the to weld new 2 1/4 piping cat back...they normally charge $100 which is cheaper than a name brand catback...plus u need a hi flo muffler. these are the cheapest and easiest to do, and i gained prolly 20 hp, and spent $350 on it all. oh yea, have them straightpipe the resonator, that will add a few...if u gut the cat, it just sounds sick. u could get headers too, but theyre pricey. a tune up never hurts either

There's not alot of options on the Lancer that are cheap to get any real gains. The best place to get good parts would be www.roadracemotorsports.com, they specialize in Lancers and the guys there are awesome. But the simple mods you could do would be either SRI if you want more top end, CAI if you want low end, depends on what you want. Header is good but pricey, or a piggyback ECU would be the best option short of a turbo. Piggys are running about 430 bucks right now, but the gain is awesome. Only downside is you'll HAVE to switch to 89 octane fuel, but you get better gas mileage.
