Default differential fluid in a mirage?

I been having noise in the 2002 Mitsubishi mirage 1.8, that i now own. I been told to check the differential fluid. I have yet to be able to find this eluding fluid. I know sometimes in small cars everything is pack in, so is what i am looking for, nothing more than transmission fluid?

Default RE: differential fluid in a mirage?

the differential is part of the transmission, hence the name "transaxle".

its lubricated with the trans fluid, regardless of whether its an auto or manual.

After watching the red Transmission fluid leak out when i removed the drive axle it made sense.
