Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

I have an 01 4x4 monty. I havent had it too long. Can some explain the 4x4 shift ****. Where is it supose to be? close to the dash? close to the seats? I've been driving it in 2H. Is that right? I'm planning on taking a trip in it soon and I want to make sure I'm in the right gear.
thanks,
albert

2h for paved road driving, 4h for rainy roads (center gear box - orange block on dash diagram - is not locked so front wheels get power but not guaranteed). this mode is "all wheel drive". 4hlc - center gear box is locked - orange block is now on - and this mode is for higher speed 4 wheel drive mode for snowy or dirt roads. 4llc for extreme traction, speeds not exceeding 45 mph. must be in neutral and stopped to engage the center gear box for 4hlc and 4 llc. once center gear box is engaged you are in true 4x4 mode. You can go in and out of 2h and 4h at any speed under 60 mph. Very handy when you hit a rain storm and you can go to all wheel drive 4h to improve traction.
