1995Montero LS 4X4 Speedometer Cable and Ignition Switch.
Hello Friends,
My 1995 Montero LS with a scant 260,000 miles just gave up telling me how fast I am going and how far I am going; speedometer and odometer!
Figuring to start the easy way with a new cable.
Hard to find these I think? I have found other model years and cables for 2WD
Also my ignition switch is not starting the rig easily anymore, whether in park or neutral. I am relatively sure it is the switch, worn too much. The starter is relatively new, battery is not the issue. It just takes 2-3 tries to get the starter going with a hard turn of the key in the ignition. Any ideas and help greatly appreciated. Questions; on where to find cables and ignition switch(?) problem.
Thanks.

I would go to MitsubishiParts.com | "Mitsubishi Parts" at Less Than Dealer Wholesale Good discounts (somewhat counteracted by shipping costs) but they take your VIN and you're sure to get the correct part. Read the other recent post on non-oem ignition switches and you may appreciate the wisdom of factory parts.
Congrats on reaching 260K. My '99 just hit 226K and I keep wondering how long it will keep going. Had to replace my ignition switch at around 150K - same symptoms as yours. Started making intermittent contact on START and then progressively got worse.
