Default 2000 montero sport rebuilt engine?

I have (had!) 157,000 happy miles on my 2000 Montero Sport with a 3.0. Like the previous post, it started thrashing and a few weeks late, the motor blew and siezed. I want to replace the motor, but have no idea the best place to look for a rebuilt. Does anyone have a good suggestion?

Also, will a 3.5 fit without further alterations?

Thanks...

Is the motor siezed to the point that it can't be rebuilt or is it a minor siezing that can be fixed?

If it can't be fixed, you can buy blocks from places like msrecycling.com or car-part.com and rebuild them or if they're still good engines, you can possibly just swap them in.

As for the 3.5L DOHC engine working, it probably won't unless you also replace the ECU and you may also have to replace the engine wiring harness. Additionally the tranny bell housing may have to be swapped along with the rear differential (3.5L DOHC engines in Montero's also have a larger rear diff).

Thanks for the info. The motor is completely siezed and will need to be replaced.
