Default 2001 mitsubishi Montero XL cabin noise (squack) when brakes are pressed

History:
Removed the anti lock brake mechanism on the Montero a few years ago, still stops like it should... do you remember cars before this anti lock feature?

Lately, we have been hearing a sqauck from below the drivers left leg up in the dash when the brake is pushed in. It is getting more frequent now, and to prove the noise to the technician.... I just push in on the brake pedal, let my foot off and then sqauck (this describes the sound you hear).

Any one else have an issue like this?
I have 188,000 miles on the vehicle.

Thanks and look forward to hearing any solutions.

Rick

Default mitsu brakes squack

It seems there was a recoil on the modulator, mine had been changed out at 28,000 and is in need of another one.

cscout, thanks for letting us know what it was. I was worried that you'd run over a duck.

Thanks for letting us know. Sounds like a reoccurring issue.
