Default 2002 montero xlt - rpm question

probally a crazy question, but having owned many vehicle's with v8 engines w/ overdrive, i'm not used to driving for prolonged periods with an rpm over 3000. At a steady rpm like that, for aprolonged period of time with a v8 i would be afraid of damaging the engine, because of steep gearing. When im on the highway with the 4 speed xlt, cruising at 75mph will bring you to 3000rpm. Are these vehicle's setup with the 4 speed to handle steady highway cruising at those speeds. Not having the 5speed I know im consuming more gas, just curious as to what kind of rpm numbers others are getting with the 4 speed auto and if this poses any long term problems. Thanks

youre not hurting anything.

it will outlast ANY domestic V8 you've ever owned.
the 5 speed and 4 speed carry nearly the same overall gearing, so the revs are only a little lower on the 5 speed.
