Default 2002 Mt Ltd rear heater lines bypassed

I discovered that one of the previous owners bypassed the rear heater lines. Are the rear heater cores usually a problem or do the metal lines deteriorate? I think the bypass looks a little too shadetree and want to restore the function. Any tips?
Thanks
Jim

Some of the posts here on the forum refer to corroded metal lines running to the rear heater. If you want to restore the functionality of the rear heater, you can check the condition of your metal lines and do a visual inspection of the rear core (you'll have to take off bunch of plastic in the back). If all looks good - reconnect the lines and bleed and pressurize the system. Monitor for leaks and if none present you are good. If you get a leak, you'll know where and why. If its fixable you can repair it and again - you are in business.

Default Pipe

Yep, hole in the input line. Spliced in some hose, no further leaks. Some moron punched a hole in the plastic housing, I have to repair that next.
