Default 3.5 SOHC has milky coolant?

Friend of mine has a '02 montero with the 3.5 SOHC V6. He says the coolant overflow was overflowing with coolant and that it was a dark milky color. He also said he was low a few quarts of oil. So obviously there is oil going into the coolant.

Said there is no loss of power, vehicle runs like normal.

Where or whywould this happen? I'm not sure if there is coolant in the oil, I told him to change it and see.

Any further actions to take to diagnose this?

gonna have to agree but i've never haerd of the oil going into the coolant. usually the other way around. you can tell if there's coolant in the oil if there's foam on the dipstick or when u drain the oil white stuff comes with it
