4x4 jumping in at random
I have searched google and this forum before posting this.
My cousin's girlfriend has a 2001 Montero 3.5xs 4x4. It will randomly jump into 4wd when driving down the road and she will have to pull over to disengage it. But she is using another vehicle so she doesnt cause and further damage. Local shop said it would be $2000 and requires dropping the front end to get to the transfer case.
I dont know if there are any codes being thrown as they didnt mention it.

she is now telling us that when she bought it 4 years ago it did the dame thing and was fixed under warranty at a Mitsubishi dealer through a aftermarket warranty.
She said they told her they replaced a clip in the transfer case.
