I've literally looked everywhere and taken my 97 montero sport to a local mechanic to resolve my problem. Which brings me here. I've got a 97 sport which the 4x4 will not lock in nor will the warning light even flash. I've replaced 2 switches on the transfer case and the freewheel clutch solenoid still nothing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

 

1. check the vacuum hoses.
2. check the 4wd switch in the center console. If that switch is not working, the computer doesn't know you want to activate solenoids.
