Cesarel........Well, what year is your Monty? I have a 94 and the new scan tools will not work. I also bought a pricey one which claims to work on OBD 1 and OBD 2 cars, and turns out it only does "specific" OBD 1 cars, not Mitsubishi. Hunter on this site said that the factory Mitsu. mechanic scan tool will work, but they are SUPER expensive....over $1,000.

I went ahead and ordered another $95 Idle Air Control from Rock Auto, as the odds are that the new one I just installed will also burn out before I can track down the cause. Sure wish I could just run a darn choke cable to the IAC and manually control that valve

Strange that your problem occurred right after you replaced the window regulator.....maybe just coincidence, or like you said, maybe a quick short did something.

Keep me posted as to your progress.
By the way, you can find replacement IAC's on Ebay for about $20-25, but the quality might be lower.

Hey 1960StudebakerHawk, thanks for your reply, mine is 96, as far i know 2nd gen... for what i read up to this moment, the only scanner that fits for this cars is the one mitsu shops use... expensive and will not buy, dealers around my area do not take care of this old models anymore... so not even there, my situation is sad, as i think i did created the problem, weird no fuse blow, it just started doing the problem, so i was thinking may be i burn some part of my ECU, since i was checking the window regulator cables, with my tester, i think i may have created the short... windows short should not burn the ECU in my opinion, but I'm not an engineer... so could be lol. Now, i will try to get a used ECU in a junk yard around home, and see if that fix the error... cause don't think that is a coincidence... the good part is my window now goes up and down without any noise. (will try to disconnect my two window switches as i also applied some contact cleaner to those maybe is not dry yet.. and that's why is in short), anyhow, will keep this thread open with updates hopefully will figure it out.

Cheers man.

Wondering why IAC could go bad suddenly... shouldn't it start to show problems from day to day? will a short could damage it? The original part is $300 + shipping, so maybe getting a cheap or a used one could be a better idea to diagnose... im thinking the cheap one could work as id replaced the 4x4 vacuum unit with a cheap one and it worked fine... at leas for a start, maybe it wont last as long as the original, but at least to diagnose.

cesarel.......I agree with you.....no need to spend $300 when you can get about the same thing for $25 (but a shinna brand). Im have been going with a higher priced one from Rock Auto for $95, but they all look the same. Here is the link to Rock Auto if you want to check it out:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1207820&jsn=1

Add to Cart STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS AC249 {Click Info Button for Alternate/OEM Part Numbers} Intermotor Info
$97.79

Regarding the ECM: I got lucky and just ordered one from a scrapyard, and cost only $40. I think they cost around $1000 new, if you can find them.
I still need to pop open the passenger kick panel and pull my old one out, and check the terminals......could just be some corrosion on a couple of the pins.

That looks good to me. Also, on ebay be sure to check to see where the IAC is coming from. Alot of times, the cheapest ones are being shipped from Shyinnna, and will take a month to get here. Best to find the parts already here in the US, and only cost a few bucks more.

Brother, so remember i did have the same issue as you... my monty was dying if i remove my foot from pedal... i did this today... not sure if you read it in my yesterday post... So i did this procedure today, and monty is back to normal... not sure if installing a new one, also needs the reset procedure, or not... but it worked in mine, would be good to give it a shot in yours... hope that works, Cheers brother!

How do I reset my Mitsubishi idle air control valve?

Reset the IAC valve pintle position by performing the following:
  1. Depress the accelerator pedal slightly.
  2. Start the engine and run for 5 seconds.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for 10 seconds.
  4. Restart the engine and check for proper idle operation.
