Default 95 Montero LS Rear end noise

Where should I start? I have what sounds like a rear end "roar" and/or a bad wheel bearing at highway speeds. Any suggestions as to the cause?

Brakes were recently done (pads and rotors replaced - out of spec to turn). The gear oil was replaced about 10k miles ago.

New all the way around. I am going to get my girlfriend to drive at HWY speeds and climb back in the back to investigate. From the driver's position, it definitely sounds like a loud, wornwheel bearing - or tires on bad pavement - or off road tread on any hard surface. BUT none of these are the cause. What else could it be? I am almost wondering if it isn't my spare tire hanging on the rear gate making racket. I will check that out too . . . tonight hopefully.

If they are new tires I would have them re-balanced...it is a cheap way to make sure the tires are not the culprit.

I had the dealer put new tires on my 02 when I got it, and it took 2 shops to balance them correctly before I had no steering wobble or road noise.
