95 montero V 6 3.0 crunch/knocking noise from front of engine
So if I havent made a list yet here goes, ive done the water pump my timing belt and my alternator twice, once form the regulator going out in one of the alternators from what i believe was an oil leak which i heard is notorious in the model that i own, i have about 180.000 miles on the vehichle and today i noticed the strange crunch/ knocking noise coming from what sounds like the fan area in the front of the engine ,
I do not know if this is a pulley or bearing, but I had the car towed home from work since it was so constant i didnt want to risk breaking anything, my alt and battery light were on and i noticed things dimming a bit when i was letting it idle in the driveway, I sprayed some lubricant on the pulleys and when I sprayed it on a pulley towards the bottom on the driver side the noise seemed to quiet considerably , but it was still there , I stepped on the accelerator and the noise was definitley still there and i noticed my steering binding a bit when i turned the wheel, even with giving it gas.
I'm wondering if a tensioner or bearing needs to be replaced? The only other thing is that my Harmonic balancer is a bit wobbly so could tightening that improve the noise ?
