Default 96 Montero LS 3.0 VSS

The VSS itself works. Speedo works, but ECU doesnt show anything. so, Im looking at the FSM (13A-1076-1) and the VSS plug they show is a 2 wire, but the truck is a 3 wire. So, how do I test the wire for a ground to ECU then? Which wire goes to ECU pin #86 (thats what the FSM says, I hope its correct)? Thanks in advance.

Yes, vehicle speed sensor. And yes, I have a 96 and http://www.mitsubishilinks.com/ has one for a 96. Not sure what else I need to say, I need to troubleshoot the vehicle speed sensor and wiring. Gauge works, but ECU shows 0 for speed all the time. Cant smog it till its fixed.
