hi i just bought a 97 montero sport with 214693 in excellent conditions, but now a check engine light came up, i took it to advance auto parts, they read code P0420 they told me it was the catalytic converter or the oxygen sensor, what should i replaced? all help will be aprecciated. thank you.

 

Welcome to the forum. FYI, the Search function at the top works pretty well. The Advanced Search option is usually best but make sure you specify the Montero Forum from the list.

You may want to try searching just for "P0420" and will proably get more results - see if there is a consensus that it's the Cat and not the O2 sensor.
