I usually stick with Dexron III for my application, using a compatible Motorcraft Mercon V fluid:



I'm due for an ATF change, and I always drain the torque converter whilst I'm at it, so I have 7.2L of fresh fluid in the system. When I went to purchase my gasket set, there was an offer going on with Dia Queen SP-III fluid. I just want to confirm this fluid is compatible with the Aisin unit on my 2000 Pajero/Montero before I make a very costly mistake. The counter guy said this ATF was for the new Lancer, which seemed rather confusing because to the best of my knowledge, the new Lancer comes with a CVT and not an A/T. Thank you.

 

yes, SP3 works fine in the aisin transmissions.

 

Thanks very much! I'll go ahead and purchase 10 litres, since they're on offer. Takes a bit of extra fluid to flush out the old, so I reckon 10 litres should do the trick.
