Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

1990 Montero. Just under 188,000. Not exactly "high" for it being a 1990.

try 380 thousand , on what appears like a near new gen 3 monty. just bought it, and prev owner says its probably freeway miles, but he was baffled by how high the mileage was and the still great condition of the car , as he sold it to me

The 01-02 has the 3.5L engine but for just a slight bit more money I went for the 03-06 model(3.8l 215hp) which gives me more power.

I looked around the net and noticed way more 01-02 used montero's than there were the 2003-2006 Monteros. I wonder why? But by far I saw way more Montero sports looking to be sold than full sized montero's.
I wonder why? (because they have more miles ?)
noticed way more 01-02 used (They may have made alot more of them ?)

Hello,

I'm a newbie here and wanted your views on buying a used Montero 03. Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Is it a good choice ( over 4runner)?
2. Is it easy to maintain ( are parts available and easy to get, expensive)
3. What should I look for before buying one? Red Flags etc
4. Are there any travel blogs fordrive trails where the Montero was used?

I look forward to joining the camp and am excited.

I'm on my 3rd Gen 3 Montero.

2002 Limited, 152,000, sold due to need for major repairs
2003 Limited, 123,000, sold due to electrical problem that I couldn't find
2006 Limited, 85,000, just bought a couple months ago, runs and drives like new
