Default camshaft position sensor discrepancy - or I may be stupid

01 Monty Ltd

So I went to replace my CPS (cam) this evening. I bought the part at advance as they had it in stock. (this is covered in my problem post but I think this needs a separate thread.) Got home went to replace it. Not the same thing. Started searching the net. Every auto parts site and amazon, etc shows two distinctly different sensors. Anyone have an explanation?

Image 1 is the one that I have. Image 2 is the one that I was sold.

Wouldn't be the first time when the parts are listed wrong. I'm sure anyone who has done any wrenching had to deal with that at one time or another. Just get the part that looks and is wired just like the one you pulled off the engine.
