Just bought a 98 montero sport...love it!!! But the open door light on the dash keeps coming on. All the doors are closed but the back hatch has some movement when closed like it's not closing all the way. If I close the door hard the light goes off but driving down the road it may come back on and flicker. Is there away to adjust the back hatch so that it closes firmly??

 

When you are driving does the back door opens up one click or does it stay in the same position as when you closed it before driving? If it does open up (first stop) you may need to adjust the door lock. I think the part on the body can be moved slightly. In your case you may need to move it couple of millimeters towards the outside. This way the door will fully go to the second latch position. If however the door stays closed when you drive, your switch might be loose or broken. Check to see if it has too much movement and tighten it up so it stays in firm contact with the door.
