Default Differential Identification...???

How can tell if I have a limited slip differential. I guess the normal one calls for GL-5 type fluid. The limited slip calls for something special.

Anybody help?

It is a 2001 Montero Sport LX. 2WD. 3.0 engine w/automatic transmission. How do I identify the generation?
