Default Engine problem

My daughter wrecked her 2003 Montero Sport 3.0 2wd, the body's totaled but the engine runs great. I bought a 2002 Montero Sport XLS 3.5 AWD with an engine that's turning out to be busted due to a failed water pump and timing belt. Can I swap the 3.0 in to the 3.5 truck? What is the compression suppose to read on the 3.5 cylinders?

Can't help you on the interchange question but on a 3.5L, the manual specifies 171 PSI standard, 127 psi minimum, with a maximum of 14 psi spread from min to max.

Thank you, I'll get started on pulling the plenum and covers tonight.

No compression reading, at all, on any of the cylinders. I'm guessing it bent every exhaust valve. Everything looks ok, but obviously it's not.
