On my Gen 1 1998, the bolts are M12 x 1.25. I just got through replacing my exhaust gaskets and several bolts not too long ago. Good timing it seems. My advice would be to soak the ever loving **** out of them with some form of penetrating fluid for a day or so before you do the work.

A friend of mine recently encountered a similar problem. The bolts boiled so bad that I had to soak them in rust remover for almost a day. And it was a problem to unscrew them. Of course, I had to replace them with new ones. Scrooz Fasteners were just right for this purpose. I have known these fasteners since the renovation of my house. Since then, I have made a strategic stock of bolts and screws of different sizes in the garage. You never know what might happen and when. If you like to do something with your own hands, the such stock may come in handy in your garage.
