Four Wheel Drive Doesn't Engage
I have a 2000 Montero Sport and the four wheel drive doesn't engageand the light doesn't show up on the dashboard. I have had it onjacks and seen that the front wheels don't move. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

RE: Four Wheel Drive Doesn't Engage
I just went through this on my truck.

This will help you diagnose. On mine a new underhood solenoid and a massive cycling of the shift lever to "free up" the whole system seemed to do the trick. Cold weather makes it worse - I need to crawl under and see if the shaft that engages the front axle needs greased as a final check.

RE: Four Wheel Drive Doesn't Engage
supposedy, the first thing a montero is on is "engaged" thats a failsafe that mitsu decided on that it is better to be on 4x4 when there is an issue with the 4x4 specially when your out wheeling. if youre system will not engage check the actuator, because when there is no vacuum the the actuator is actualy pushed in engaging the system. if you decide to put it in 2H then tha vacuum sucks the actuator out, if vacuum fails then it creeps back to 4H. if it doesnt then your actuator might be stuck.
