Default Hello and need a little help

Hey there, I just bought an 02 Montero Sport and love it. I have been reading all the threads for the last week or 2 and figured that I would say hello.

I need a little help as well...
I bought a spare key and had it cut and I bought a Key fob as well.

I cant get either to work properly.
I have the instructions to program the FOB but I never get to the point where the car is supposed to lock and unlock before I hit the button on the FOB - any ideas?

The new key ... I had it cut, but I only have one valid key and cannot get the new one to work.
If anybody has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks,
Mike - Tucson, AZ

They are transponder keys. There is a little microchip in the key that if the car does not sence that its there..... the car wont start.

need to take the car to your local dealer and have the key programmed to it.
make sure you bring BOTH keys when getting the programming done.

The owners manual has the procedure for programming the keys. However, you need to have at least two working keys, and the gray key will not work as one of the two.
