Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

Unhappy junk in the pan

did a weekend job with my younger brother on my 2k1 montero sport 3.0, been hearing a weird noise and the oil light came on so i figured the oil pump wasnt working. after a slight mishap with the removal of the of the oil pan i took a look on the inside and found bits and bits of metals ranging in size, the largest being about an inch long. I also found a bolt maybe about 2 in long along with its nut...........I think i might have a bad piston....... has any one had this problem?

Sorry man but it sounds like its time for a new motor. Probably won't know exactly what all the pieces are from until you pull the motor all the way apart.

You spun a bearing.

New engine time.

You should NOT rebuild that engine.
