Exclamation please help! starting problem

I have a 2000 montero sport. just bought it a week ago. It would start fine one day and then the next day get a great turn over but would not start. let it sit a day and go back and it would start right up. did this for several days. we changed the fuel filter and there was some trash in it, thought that was the problem. went out tues and it would turn over very strong but not start, waited went out wends it started but then cut off after a few min just as if the key had been turned off. did this twice and then woudnt start again. waited an hour or so, it started right up! it has started everytime since with no problem. ran the codes and came up with four, 1 was a crankshaft postion sensor. any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Default Good Question

First of all, Pamack, this isn't an answer to your question. I wish I had that answer for you. This sounds like what my Nissan is doing and I haven't figured that out yet. Sorry.

What I want to know is ... do Mitsubishis of the 2000 vintage have a no-start if oil is low sensor. Because I can't come up with any other reason why the girlfriend's car wouldn't start other than that. Montero Sport 3.0. Battery was 3.76v and 600+ amps so not that but wouldn't start til I took battery out, tested it, and then turned on headlights. Craziness. I did have to put oil in it though before it would start.
