Default replacement tires + question

I know OEM tires for First Gen Montero is 235/75/R15.

What larger size can I run without a lift and without rubbing?

And...a question...

Picked up an 88 Dodge Raider. It has locking hubs--which are not standard equipment. I've never had a 4WD w/ locking front hubs. How do I engage 4WD with a set up like this?

Thanks.

Search the forum for maximum tire size. There are a lots of discussions about that with a lot of background information. Much better than starting a new thread. As far as locking hubs, most old ones are just a quarter turn **** in the cetner of the wheel to lock them. Then you engage 4 wheel drive on the transfer case

Thank you. I've probably owned ~ 10 4WD vehicles, but never one with locking hubs. I was curious how they interfaced with the 4WD controls in the interior. Again, thank you.

I spent about 45 minutes searching--using numerous key words and phrases. I found nothing that would answer my question. I look elsewhere.

You can put 33X12.5 on your stock rig. You will probably have to trim your front bumper ends though. You can also do a 2 inch body lift fairly easy which will give your rig plenty of clearance for some articulation with the 33's. something like this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/265258624928 The hubs I see in the picture are auto locking hubs. Or I just can't zoom in enough to tell. If they are auto hubs, When you put your rig in 4H you will have to reverse about 10 yards to engage the hubs. Enjoy your Montero/Raider!
