Default speedometer not returning to zero

Hi - I'm a new member of the forum, located in Australia. I drive an '02 NM Montero (Pajero here). Because it seems that my instrument lights aren't a bright as they were, I removed the instrument cluster to check the bulbs - this also included dismounting the white plastic pcb on the rear to see if there were bulbs underneath. As it turned out the problem is probably more ageing eyes than fading bulbs.

HOWEVER since I've replaced everything I have noticed that the speedo doesn't return to zero (stops at probably <5) and when starting off it moves only slightly till it jumps to about 20 km/h (about 12 mph) and then all is good. It is as accurate as previously when checked against the GPS.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so is there an easy, quick and cheap solution?

I found the answer to my question above when I looked on the Pajero Owners Club of South Africa forum - here's the link
http://www.pajeroclub.co.za/forum/vi...hp?f=27&t=1075

The process is quite simple, and probably worth noting for any other members who need to remove and replace their instrument cluster and particularly the PCB on the back.

Fixed my speedo in about 10 minutes all up!
