Default A/T tranny switch

since I don't yet have an owners manual (96 Montero) and "search" did not get me an answer can someone, please, look up or know how to use this switch? I think (always a good thing???) that one setting is for starting in 2nd gear - the other one if one has weight/trailer hooked up? And which would be for what: A = 2nd gear / T = weight? Thanks for your help.

Maybe you do not have the Montero 4x4: It's the switch on the center console by the shifter marked A/T - a 3 position toggle switch which is tranny related.

In order to get "hold" or "power" displayed (my vehicle actually displays that next to the 4x4 schematics in the "cluster") I have to "toggle" the switch in the center console. What do you do to get that displayed? And, yes, the switch is factory standard issue.

can you let me know what is what for: Hold / Power or A/T, please? I see that you are a mastermechanic and would be the person that has the right answer. Thanks

just saw that 66 fellow Montero drivers looked at the message and each one seems to have the same problem as I: No owner's manual to explain the switch.
