Hi i have a 1994 montero sr amd an endeavor but i hooked up the jumper cables backwards and then it wouldnt do anything cause the battery was old and kinda shot so i have a brand new battery and i try to start it and it just turns over wont start.and mind you ot has sat for a couple years but all the dash lights come on basically everything is as it should be but it just wont start I've put fresh gas in it and nothing changes ive checked all the fuses.and the.fusable links therebwas a few that were bad but i have replaced them and they were interior fuses that had nothing to do with the engine any ways thank you for your time and if you guys could give me some advice or know whats going on please let me know thank you and have a nice day

Sitting for a while = clogged fuel lines / fuel pump???? Just what came to mind first. Or even a clogged exhaust.

If you can smell gas after cranking, then check if you are getting spark. You need both to make engine run.

Any luck since you last posted?

You said you put fresh gas in but the gas in the lines is still old unless you bled the lines.
