Ash,
Strait from the Parts Bulletin.

"There are three part numbers for this type of cable. Because the new Outlander and Lancer are CAN-bus based, head unit autio inputs are slightly different and required a different design.

All three cables terminate in a 3.5mm phono plug that connects to a standerd headphone connector. The cables are compatible with any portable players (iPod Nano included), MP3 phones, PDA's etc. Because it is only an audio connector, the cable will not charge the players' batteries, and play control functions are still operated through the player's regular controls."

The radio is the same - the IPOD connector either can be spliced in to the back 18 pin harness, or if you have the right tool, you can pull three pins and plug the IPOD connector wiring into the actual 18 pin harness.

But which pins to I need to attach to. I have a lead ready with bare ends that I can use and save buying an expensive Mitsubishi Lead.

Below are some photos of the back of my radio.

You need to connect into the bottom connector that only has 5 wires. For reference, the blue and red wires are pins 8 and 9, respectively - pin 18 is the yellow wire. You need to connect ground to pin 14 and left or right audio to pins 4 and 13.

Thnx for the advice. However, I changed my mind and switched from Outlander to Pajero 07 SWB which I already paid and wait for delivery on Thursday. Is the mode of connection still valid for pajero too? (I guess in US the European Pajero would be Montero...).

Thank you very very much

Tested the pins with just bare wires with a 3.5mm stereo jack on the other end plugged into my Sat Nav Unit. Worked fine.

Ordered some 2.5mm female connectors which will hopefully fit into the connector block so that I can make a proper connection. I am also going connect the power for the sat nav to the wires that feed the accessory socket, so everything will be hidden away.
