07 outlander emergency key start help
Hello. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me help me because I'm stuck but good.. The little plastic starting cap on the Ignition for my my 07XLS Outlander broke off . It appeared that 1 of the tabs that holds the cap on ended up partially in the mechanism. I was able to get the bit of tab out and inserted the emergency key . The emergency key will only go as far as accessory. It will not start the vehicle. I am able to turn the steering wheel, so it is not locked preventing starting. I even used pliers on the key to give a little more force to turn it, did not do any good.. Is there some kind of a fuse somewhere that possibly is connected to the starter switch switch lock that I'm unaware of?

After a little more research, I realize that there are 2 pieces to the Ignition lock cap. A top cover that comes off when you use the emergency key, and a bottom piece that snaps on to the Ignition lock that is under the cap. This is the part that is broken, the cap is still fine. Can anyone tell me if that lower piece is necessary to somehow hold the Ignition lock in while the emergency key is turned to start the vehicle?
