So I got an Outlander this spring and now that it is cold outside I am having some trouble. Even when the car is fully warm and the heat is blowing out hot when I stop in traffic the heat goes to luke warm. I have tried to use the recirculate option and the fresh air option and it does not seem to matter. Any ideas, this just doesn't seem right? Doesn't matter but it is an 07 XLS

 

if you are still under warranty, I think there was a TSB that basically made the car idle 100rpm higher when cold outside.

I also recently flushed the coolant and thought I had it completely full. Turns out I was a bit short and I guess there was not enough for the heater core. I filled it up the rest of the way and she has better heat...though it still does it a bit. Might just want to check your fluid.

 

I noticed the same thing with my Outlander. I'm taking it in for service next week, so I'll be sure to bring that to the attention of the service manager.

 

Keep in mind increasing the RPM will cause it to vibrate even more when stopping at lights before the engine warms up.

 

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open.

 

It's completely normal. Try turning on A/C, that will help get warm air going faster/at a stop since it raises the RPM. Alternatively, you can use block part of the radiator in the winter to get the engine to retain its warmth...since the cooling system is geared towards really hot climates.

 

I have an Outlander 08 LS model. I had the exact same problem, went to the dealership a few times before they fix it. They change the electronic control module for A/C and heater for an 09 model. That fix the problem right away!! Hope that will help you.
