Hey I know exactly what you guys mean - I take my 4 year old to pre-school which is a 30 second drive and don't buckle up. He hassles me about it every time and he is right.

Yeah, I'm tired of these people that keep saying "just wear your seat belt." Give me a break, everyone does, but the chime in this car is ridiculous. Two examples:

1)Come home from work, park at the end of the driveway to get the mail, drive the 30 feet up my driveway with the stupid seat belt chime going off the whole time

2)Starbucks drive through, undo my seatbelt to take my wallet out of my back pocket, pull forward the 3 feet, and the chime is going off...

I would love to disable the stupid chime...it's actually the one thing I can't stand about this car. So please, no more "Just wear your seatbelt" crap. This chime is overkill.

Hey could be worse - I remember my Dad's old Ford LTD. wood panel station wagon that had a non-stop buzzer if you didn't buckle up. Before seat belt laws - had to keep the belts buckled just to shut the damn thing up!

While I'm on the subject of annoying chimes, I could also do without the beep when the temp drops below 37 degrees. Like I need my car to tell me this. My Mini does this too, but I still haven't gotten used to it.

There IS some way to do this.... I just have to beat it out of a service tech I suppose. Most vehicles have a soft disable by doing something like buckling/unbuckling the belt 20 times in 30 sec after the key is turned to on. Unless someone has a pdf service manual that is...

Seems simple, fool the system into thinking the seatbelt is always engaged... You should be able to do that from the drivers seat area... I should be able to find something... although it would be easier if I had a wiring diagram for the seatbelt circuits.

I hate it as well, my mailbox is 5 houses away, and to buckle up for that distance is my choice, I would rather not have it forced down my throat.
